Playoff s are the most exciting part of hockey. Gearing up for a 4-round elimination challenge with a chance to win 2 box seat tickets to a 2008-2009 NHL game in Toronto or Pittsburgh, I began working with the Hockey.com marketing team to develop a fresh brand overhaul for the Hockey.com fantasy section, starting with the playoff challenge.

Stepping onto the ice during playoffs is like stepping onto a battlefield. When the 2008 Playoffs hit, I was responsible for overhauling the Hockey.com Fantasy Hockey section into a war zone where users could draft rosters, drop players, track their stats, trash talk their rivals and more.

When the mayhem was over only 1 person stood victorious and I was asked to put together a bundle of different email templates to announce things like the grand prize winners, thanks you emails, urls to final standings, and a warm up to the upcoming 2008 Entry Draft Challenge.

Throughout the playoffs I was responsible for providing Hockey.com with creative materials for their extraordinary amount of online promotions through multiple landing pages, email announcements, social networking, and other various forms of Internet Marketing.

Hockey.com started out as a simple hockey blog. Before we knew it, it became the primary source for anything hockey: news, photos, forums, NHL, junior, international, everything.

For the 2008 re-launch I worked very closely with the Hockey.com marketing team to develop an aggressive, confident brand that would give Hockey.com the look and feel of an industry leading hockey community.

During 2008 one of Hockey.com’s most innovative marketing strategies was the forming of a company hockey team, Sponsored by Hockey.com. Shortly after joining the creative department I was assigned the responsibility of designing jersey for the players to wear.

Using the 2008 RBK Edge templates as my guide I responded with a new logo mark and full uniform set complete with socks in both home and away colours.

Hockey news, hockey blogs, interviews, fantasy hockey, schedules, real-time score updates, Hockey.com was everything hockey; even your own user profile where you could connect with other hockey players, coaches, and fans from around the world.

For the 2008 launch of Hockey.com 2.0 I provided a high impact web interface based heavily off North American style hockey.

With a brand new identity and world class website Hockey.com needed an attractive way to spread the word about Hockey.com 2.0.

In addition to unique email announcements I provided designs for the monthly newsletters, keeping hockey fans informed as to what was happening, not just with the website, but in the global hockey community.
